Five years ago the Government made it a statutory responsibility of councils in 88 ‘Neighbourhood Renewal Areas’ to create a Local Strategic Partnership (LSP). Rotherham is a Neighbourhood Renewal Area and the Rotherham Partnership is the LSP for the borough.

The LSPs in the 88 ‘Neighbourhood Renewal Areas’ are required to follow Government guidance and are subject to rigorous Government and external scrutiny. Each year, the LSP is assessed by Government. The assessment looks at the effectiveness of the partnership in terms of delivery.

The partnership is assessed on its effectiveness in partnership working (our improvement plan for this is called the “cross-theme action plan”) and on its effectiveness in delivery (our improvement plans for this are our “thematic action plans”). All of this is part of our “Improvement Framework”.
